Duval, Furyk, Harrington, Kuchar, Lehman, O’Meara, Singh, Watson join the star-studded line-up

Nelly Korda and Justin Thomas are among the latest stars confirmed for the 2022 PNC Championship at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club Orlando, Grande Lakes, Dec.15-18.

Nelly Korda, who won the Pelican Championship yesterday to regain the No.1 spot on the World Rankings, will once again play alongside her father, Australian Open tennis champion, Petr Korda, while Thomas and his father Mike hope to recapture the title they won during their Championship debut in 2020.

Korda commented, “We absolutely loved our experience last year and are delighted to have been invited again this year. It was such a fun week for the whole family! It truly was special for my dad and me to compete inside the ropes together. We are definitely looking to improve on our 12th place finish last year and I can’t wait to share this amazing experience with him again.”

David Duval and Jim Furyk will play with their sons, Brady and Tanner, Padraig Harrington, a three-time winner on the PGA Champions Tour in 2022, will play with his son Paddy, while Matt Kuchar has subbed in his 13-year-old son Carson after playing the last two editions with his elder son, Cameron.

Tom Lehman, Mark O’Meara, Vijay Singh and Tom Watson are all playing with their sons again this year, having together amassed an impressive 42 appearances in the PNC Championship. Despite multiple top five finishes, and 14 major titles between them, they are each still seeking that coveted first PNC Championship victory.

Already confirmed are John Daly and his son John Daly II, Bernhard Langer, alongside his son Jason, three-time Major Champion, Jordan Spieth and his father Shawn, Annika Sorenstam with her 11-year-old son Will, Justin Leonard and 16-year-old son Luke, Nick Price and son Greg and Trevino, 82, the only player to have competed in every single PNC Championship alongside his son, Daniel.

This is the 11th year PNC Bank has been the tournament’s title sponsor. The event was renamed the PNC Championship in 2020, reflecting the world class talent at this inclusive family tournament that showcases the special bonds that the love of golf creates.

The tournament, which will be broadcast live across NBC, GOLF Channel and Peacock, attracts major champions whose victories this year span 1959 to 2021. Last year, the PNC Championship included a field that had won a remarkable 67 major titles. With only 20 teams competing, players past and present have shown unprecedented interest in campaigning for a spot in the star-studded line-up.

The PNC Championship has continued to evolve and develop since the inaugural tournament in 1995, when 10 major winners gathered with their sons. The tournament now features 20 major champions and their relatives competing for the total purse of $1,085,000 in a two-day, 36-hole scramble for the Willie Park Trophy.

To qualify for the PNC Championship, players must have won a major championship or The Players Championship. Their partner must not hold a PGA or LPGA TOUR card.

The PNC Championship is operated in partnership by IMG and NBC Sports.
