Key Quotes:

The reigning champions of the PNC Championship were in good spirits ahead of their title defense as Jason Langer commented…

“Super excited. This event is a family tradition for us. We’ve been here pretty much every year I think. Me, my siblings have all played. It’s definitely a highlight of the calendar for us. It’s nice that it’s around the holidays and can we get to come together as a family.”

A six-time winner of the PNC Championship, Bernhard Langer added…

“For me it’s a thrill, too. I think it’s my 20th year at the PNC Championship and it’s wonderful to have our kids inside the ropes, outside the ropes. As Jason said it’s a family affair. Everybody participants in some way, shape, or form, whether playing, caddieing, or cheering from outside the ropes. It’s an easy commute for us from Boca Raton. It’s a great venue. PNC has done a wonderful job elevating the event and people enjoy watching it on television as well as in life.”

Nelly Korda ahead of her fifth appearance in the event…

“I can’t believe it’s been our fifth. Oh, my gosh. For me it’s a great way to end the year, to play alongside my dad. Those are core memories that you get to look back on for the rest of your life. I have been so lucky, we’ve been so lucky enough to play with Lee Trevino a couple times during this event.

How many times can someone of my generation really say that? The event brings on such amazing memories and getting to do that alongside my dad, there is no better way to end the year than that.”

Petr Korda on how he feels about his game…

“I feel okay. You know, as she said it’s a matter of having fun on the golf course and to enjoy our luck, to enjoy those moments being with her. You know, it’s a lifetime opportunity.

I wish we could play on a tennis court. Would be a little bit fun for me; this is more challenging. But I’m enjoying every minute of it. To see the golf greats, to be around them, it’s amazing, you know, to hear their stories.”

Trevor Immelman on looking forward to every part of this week…..

“Really everything is just a blast for us. PNC, the organizers do a brilliant job putting this event together. It’s just a real nice family environment from start to finish.  Even these couple days doing the pro-ams and getting to go hang out with the guests is a lot of fun. And I agree with what Jacob said. For us to be able to get out here and have a little competition and be on the same team together really adds an extra layer of special to that.

You know, for guys that played on TOUR for a long time, it’s sometimes difficult for family and friends to understand what it’s actually like because you are out there on your own in an individual sport. Now, to have the ability to compete with him alongside me is something a little different. You know, it’s not the most high-stress environment in the world, but it’s a lot of fun.

So, to be able to be here with all these legends of the game and have a great time in my hometown of Orlando is what it’s all about.”

20-year-old Jacob Immelman on what he loves about playing with his dad this week…

“I mean, I play with him often, but to play with him in a competitive environment is different and fun, and to have a crowd watch us is so fun. So I enjoy all of it.”

Steve Stricker on enjoying watching Izzi’s game improve…

“The PNC Championship is an opportunity for us all to be together, to work towards something, for Izzi and I not only to play together, but have Bobbi and Nicki out here as a well is a lot of fun. It’s good to see her progressing in general really. She’s getting better and better all the time. Her swing is getting more technically sound. Her little mistakes are becoming less I would say.

She’s improving in all facets of the game really. Each and every year she can see it, too. That’s the exciting part in golf. If you’re staying neutral and not improving it’s a tough game, but I think she can see the improvement. I definitely see the improvement. She’s getting longer. She’s more accurate.

Now it’s working on all the little stuff. The playing, the little shots around the green, all the little stuff that adds up to a big difference at the end of a round or tournament. So it’s cool to see her progressing and getting better.”

19-year-old Izzi Stricker on the difference between playing with her mom versus her dad…

“They’re both really competitive. I would say my mom is more competitive. That was so fun. Yeah, she actually carried me that day. She made seven birdies.  I’m 1-0 with her, so she’s clearly the better partner. I’m kidding. I’m kidding.”

NEWS FROM PNC BANK:

Fairway concierge robots were travelling through the practice area – one delivering vanilla ice cream & one delivering PNC branded swag items. Believed to be a first for a PGA Tour event. The reason for the vanilla ice cream is because, like banking, vanilla ice cream can be perceived as “boring”, basic, or expected—yet it’s unnoticed complexities, when nailed, can make the perfect timeless treat and it is still the best-selling ice cream of all time.  So, what better way to celebrate the boring, reliable brilliance of vanilla than by enjoying some on the course in the Florida heat?
